Mermaids Tale was designed by Judy and Brad Niemeyer and was built using blocks from the Cattail Mixer series, including the Shimmering Star block and the Star Shower border. It also includes a C border, which does not include any foundation paper piecing. These instructions are broken down by groups, referred to as Groups A, B, & C. The cover quilt layout and colorway was designed by Judel Niemeyer using Quiltster.
This pattern is called a Collectors Club design. This means it was created to showcase a specific fabric collection designed by Quiltworx.com, called a Mini Collection. Mini Collections consist of (8) custom designed and selected Tonga Batiks in one color group, ranging from light to dark. They are sometimes paired with basics from either the Wallflowers Batik collection or the Tonga Java Blenders. They are Collectors Club, because we only publish 500 of them, and when the patterns are gone, they are gone.
