Quilting with the Longarm Sewing Machine

The hours that were spent thinking about a quilt, planning the design, choosing the colors and fabric, carefully cutting the fabric and sewing everything together has finally produced a quilt top, YAY! Now you have to finish the quilt and there are several options available and Granny Sassy Designs is here to help you turn your project of love into a product of love.

One of the most popular options today is Longarm Quilting, which is a procedure of using a longarm sewing machine to stitch the three layers of your quilt together.

For more information, or to find out the cost of finishing your quilt, please fill out this form and we’ll be happy to answer your questions and provide you with a quote.

The longarm sewing machine differs from your home machine because it is a large industrial piece of equipment. The actual part that does the sewing, the head, is guided by either computer or hand, on the three layers that will become your quilt. These three layers are the quilt top, quilt batting and quilt backing. The head of the longarm machine is mounted on wheels and a track, while sitting on a 10 to 14 foot table, which allows it to move freely and accurately over the quilt while sewing.

The longarm machine allows for custom work on your quilt by offering both pantograph designs and custom work done in quilt blocks. Granny Sassy Designs can provide you with many options for finishing your home made quilt into a work of art and love.
